A new way to learn about AI — at the library
Dear neighbors,
You've probably heard a lot about AI lately — in the news, at work, from family members who swear by it or swear at it. It can feel like everyone has an opinion, but few people have a safe, private place to actually try it out.
That's why I'm excited to share that [Library Name] is now offering PLAID3.hub, a beginner-friendly AI chat and self-paced learning program — free to use, in English and Spanish, on our public computers or your own phone.
No account. No email. No personal information of any kind. When you close the browser tab, your conversation disappears — even our staff can't see what you asked.
Whether you're job searching, curious about a health topic, drafting an email, or just wondering what all the fuss is about, come give it a try. Ask at the desk for an access code, or scan the QR code on our flyers around the building.
Libraries have always helped our communities navigate new technology. This is the next chapter — and I hope to see you here for it.
Warmly,
[Director Name]

Try AI at the library — privately, in English or Spanish
Artificial intelligence is reshaping how people search for information, apply for jobs, write emails, and make sense of an increasingly complicated world. But for many of us, it still feels locked behind a paywall, a sign-up form, or a worry about what happens to the things we type.
[Library Name] has a new way to help.
What it is
PLAID3.hub is a private, beginner-friendly AI chat and self-paced AI literacy program, now available free to all [Library Name] patrons. It includes:
- A guided AI chat designed for people who have never used AI before, with a built-in coaching panel that suggests questions and follow-ups in real time.
- An 11-lesson course, "11 Things You Should Know About AI," that explains how AI works, where it shines, and where it gets things wrong — in plain language, with interactive exercises along the way.
- Full availability in English and Spanish, including the chat and every lesson.
Who it's for
Anyone. Older adults who've heard family members talk about AI chatbots and want to see what they are. Job seekers polishing a résumé or practicing interview answers. Students learning to think critically about AI-generated content. Newcomers to the community. Neighbors who are simply curious.
You don't need to know anything about AI before you start. That's the whole point.
How to get started
- Stop by any service desk and ask for a PLAID3 access code — or scan the QR code on our posters and bookmarks.
- Use the code to open the chat on any library computer, or on your own phone, tablet, or laptop.
- Start a conversation, or click into the lessons. Close the browser tab when you're done.
No app to download. No account to create. No password to remember.
What about privacy?
This is the part we're proudest of. PLAID3 is built from the ground up to keep patrons anonymous:
- No account is required — ever.
- No email, phone number, or name is collected.
- Conversations are not stored, archived, or logged. When you close the tab, the session is gone.
- Library staff cannot see individual conversations. We see only aggregate numbers — how many people used the tool, rough topic categories — never who said what.
This reflects the library's long-standing commitment to patron privacy, now extended into the AI era.
Why we're doing this
Libraries have always been the community's trusted guide through new information technologies — from the card catalog, to the internet, to databases and e-books. AI is the next big shift, and we believe every community member deserves a safe, low-pressure place to learn about it.
Come try it. Ask questions. Make mistakes. Use the lessons. Ask a librarian if you get stuck. We're here for it.
Get started: Visit any service desk for an access code, or learn more at [library URL].
